Parents Scared of Losing Out
“Private tutor, Shayussri Sharif, who runs learning centre Little Big Minds, says that many parents feel that they need to be more equipped with the latest methodologies and syllabus to better help their children with homework.
This year alone, she has conducted five rounds of a composition workshop for parents and their children to attend together, focusing on skills and strategies needed to score in PSLE composition writing.
“The seats are usually snapped u fast, especially before exam periods,” she says.
Madam Irah has attended two workshops organized by the centre since the beginning of this year. “I’m happy as long as my daughter passes. But if she doesn’t do well and I didn’t send her for these classes, I’d be let with a question of whether I did my best to give her what she needed,” she says.”
